Bo Staff Seminar 1: Introduction to bo staff form and self-defense
• ages 8 and above
• two choices of four full hours each: either Friday 5p-9p (DATE NIGHT!) or Saturday 9a-1p (SHOPPING DAY!)
• bo staff fundamentals and basics (handling, clouding, striking, blocking, stances, positioning)
• offensive and defensive drills
• basic and effective self defense
• partner work
• a Kung Fu long staff form: Pal Dan Kum Bong (8 Movements of the Golden Staff) sections 1-5
• As a special BONUS for attending Seminar I, you will receive DVD footage of the seminar AND footage of sections 1-5 on the DVD so you can practice at home!

Required equipment: bo staff ($25), and shin/instep pads ($12) for both boys and girls, and protective cups for boys
(If you don’t come with these pieces of equipment, you cannot participate! Equipment is available through CTA.)

NOTE: If you already have a bo staff, I would HIGHLY encourage you to purchase a new rattan bo staff to use during the seminar. These are much lighter and far better suited to practicing self-defense. It will also allow you to preserve your current bo staff for use in competition. Using a shiny, new bo staff makes a far better impression in competition than using one that’s dented, chipped, and splintered. We can order the rattan bo staves in different sizes. (Weapons bags will accommodate two staves.)

Bo Staff Seminar 2: advanced bo staff self defense and form (participation in seminar 1 is required)
• ages 8 and above
• three full hours: Saturday 1p-4p
• focus on self-defense and fighting techniques
• bo staff attacking and defending details
• offensive and defensive flow drills
• advanced self-defense
• submission techniques
• disarming techniques
• bo staff vs. bo staff attacking and defending strategies
• a brand new long staff form (kata) that no one at CTA has ever seen before and is not taught in Masters Club!!
• As a special bonus for attending Seminar II, you will receive a DVD that contains seminar footage AND footage of the never-before-seen kata so you can practice the new form at home!
